During my years in Edinburgh, I found myself drawn not only to its rich European architecture but to the quiet details most people passed without a second glance– the intricate pattern of an old drain cover, the graceful curve of a brass door handle, the craftsmanship hidden in the ordinary.

What fascinated me was that none of these details had to be beautiful. They could have been purely functional. Yet someone, many years ago, chose to make them beautiful anyway.

That idea never left me.
